THE CENTRE
The Royal Rehabilitation Centre Sydney (ROYAL REHAB) is a highly specialised physical rehabilitation facility located within the Northern Sydney Area Health Service.
We provide individual rehabilitation programs for adults with disabilities arising from;
- Spinal cord injury
- Traumatic brain injury
- Age related illness and disease
- Amputations
- Occupational Injury
- Orthopaedic injury and illness
- Neurological illness
- Stroke

We also provide community and residential services for people with severe physical disabilities through our Extended Care Service (ECS), supported accommodation in the community through the Community Integration Program (CIP) and the Community Outreach Team. These Units are supported by our other Services which include:

Staff
The ROYAL REHAB directly employs 494 full time equivalent (FTE) staff comprising medical, nursing, allied health, corporate support and community support professions.
Learning and Development
A comprehensive education and staff development program is provided. Mandatory training includes: Occupational Health and Safety, personal safety and security, EEO, fire training, CPR, caring crisis management, driver training and basic suicide awareness.
A variety of clinical interest workshops are provided to both internal and external participants as a means of furthering clinical knowledge.
Performance Management
The Performance Management System provides the framework for the continuing improvement of our staff. The program assists employees to identify and access relevant educational and professional development programs, furthering their skills and competencies.

Code of Conduct
The ROYAL REHAB expects staff to act in accordance with the ‘Code of Conduct’ which provides a framework for ensuring the ethical and appropriate behaviour of all employees. The Code underpins our commitment to a duty of care to all staff, residents and clients receiving our services. Where breaches of the Code occur, appropriate disciplinary proceedings are implemented.
Staff Psychologist
A confidential counselling service is provided to assist staff who may be experiencing work or non-work related difficulties that may be affecting their work performance.
Student Placements
TheROYAL REHAB provides clinical placements for undergraduates from a variety of health science fields and hosts study tours for overseas students.
ROYAL REHAB is classified as an affiliated health organisation within the Health Services Act 1997, but is also a Company limited by guarantee. We retain an independent Board of Directors, who continue to oversee the development of strategic planning and excellence in rehabilitation and extended care. We have affiliations with the University of Western Sydney Nepean and the Sydney University as a teaching hospital and have a Professor of Rehabilitation Medicine on site.

Safe Practice and Environment
TheROYAL REHAB is committed to ensuring the health, safety and welfare of its employees and any other people who may be affected by the organisations operations.
Regular environmental audits and risk assessments are performed to promote safe work practices, minimise infection rates and maintain an efficient response to hazard identification.
The ROYAL REHAB maintains effective environmental and waste management compliance through waste reduction, elimination, minimisation and recycling initiatives.
A 'No-lift program' has been implemented across the Centre, reducing incidents of manual handling injury.
As of 1st September 2002, ROYAL REHAB is a totally smoke free campus in accordance with NSW Health regulations. There are some exempted outdoor areas for the use of clients only. There is a no smoking policy in all buildings of the Centre.
