Spinal Injury Unit
Royal Rehab’s spinal injury unit accommodates up to 20 patients recovering from a spinal cord injury. The unit has its own gym, a shared dining and living area, access to the hydrotherapy pool as well as easy access to the outdoor recreation areas.
Your rehabilitation program
We’ll work with you and your family to develop a rehabilitation program focused on your needs and goals. Our overall goal is to help you adapt to your changed abilities, and promote your independence and decision making.
You will have a team of specialised professionals working with you during your stay. Depending on your specific needs, these could include doctors, rehab nurses, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, recreation therapists, dietitians, social workers, clinical psychologists, neuropsychologists, pharmacists, allied health assistants and a compensable case coordinator.
One of your team will also be your ‘contact person’. They will be the key contact for you and your family during your stay and will coordinate many aspects of your program.
You’ll be given more detailed information when you arrive at the Spinal Injury Unit, including a weekly timetable of your therapy and nursing activities.
